New Hallway Policy

Starting March 23, Jefferson High will enforce hallway expectations during class time. Students who misuse hallway passes may be placed on a No-Fly List, meaning they lose hallway privileges during class.

Goal: A Safe and Focused Academic Environment Students who engage in the following behaviors will be automatically placed on the No-Fly List and lose hallway privileges during all of their classes: Unauthorized Exit: Leaving class without teacher permission (Student will be marked Absent) Procedural Failure: Not leaving phone in class, not signing in or out Extended Absence: Staying out of class longer than 5 minutes without justification Unauthorized Locations: Being found in other classrooms, congregating in hallways, or using unassigned bathrooms Coordinated Breaks: Meeting friends or socializing in the hallway Avoiding Instruction: Skipping class under the pretense of having permission Vandalism: Any damage or misconduct in restrooms or hallways Disruption: Loitering, filming, or loud behavior that interferes with classes Dishonesty: Providing false information regarding permission Emergency Protocol for No-Fly List Students: Security Escort: If a student on the list has a legitimate emergency, security staff will escort them to the restroom or required location. Direct Return: To ensure safety and supervision, the student will be returned directly to class. Restorative Process: Earning Back Privileges The No-Fly List is reviewed every three weeks. Students on the No-Fly list have the opportunity to be removed from restrictions, but it is not guaranteed. Privileges will be regained upon meeting criteria; this can happen prior to the 3 weeks, with a 1 week minimum. Students may regain privileges with a teacher recommendation by meeting these criteria and not having further infractions: No tardies Completion of all assignments Grade of C or higher Note: If hallway misuse resumes after privileges are restored, the student will return to the list until the end of the quarter without option to regain privileges.
