Important Update: New Tardy Policy at Jefferson High School

 

Dear Jefferson High School Parents and Guardians,

We hope this letter finds you well as we begin another semester of our school year. At Jefferson High School, we are committed to fostering a positive and productive learning environment for all students. To support this mission, we are implementing a new tardy policy effective 2-10-25 in an attempt to teach our students the importance of being prompt (on time) which is one of our 6 P’s. 

New Tardy Policy Overview: (per week)

• 1st & 2nd Tardy: Verbal warning and reminder of school expectations.
• 3rd-5th Tardy: Parent notification via email or phone call.
• 6th + Tardy:Students will be assigned ISS on Friday 9:00-12:00.  
• After 3rd assigned ISS:  A parent meeting will be scheduled to determine next steps and further disciplinary actions will occur. 

Punctuality is essential for student success. Arriving late disrupts learning and can impact academic performance. We ask for your support in ensuring that your child arrives on time each day. If a student is absent from assigned ISS or is asked to leave ISS for disciplinary reasons, they will be suspended the following Monday for 1st offense and Monday and two days for the second 2nd offense.  

In addition to the tardy policy, any student that refuses to go to class, ie wandering the halls or hanging out in the bathroom for long periods of time will receive an automatic suspension.
