General Information

Announcements will be done during the first 10 minutes of 1st period. The administration will limit these types of interruptions to the school learning environment. 

Cell phones and electronic devices are not allowed in classrooms unless the teacher has allowed them. If a student uses a cell phone or electronic device when prohibited classroom consequences will be applied. If the issue continues the student may be referred to the administration. The administration is not responsible for lost or stolen cell phones or electronic devices and will not spend time trying to locate these items. 

During the course of the year, we will be having 10 fire drills and at least 4 lockdown drills. The purpose of the drills is to keep both students and faculty safe. Students are to take very drill seriously and provide feedback when necessary. 

No student is to be in the hall for the first 10 minutes and the last 10 minutes of class.  These are the most crucial minutes of instruction.  Any student using the bathroom after this time must have a hall pass signed by a teacher.  If a student abuses the privilege of using the bathroom, they will be placed on bathroom restriction by the administration. JHS does not have lockers, so students will not need to leave class to access materials.

Check the main office for any items lost or stolen. Any lost and found items will be held for the school year, but then disposed of at the end of the school year. 

Student IDs will be provided and must be carried at all times. 

Students with off block must leave campus unless they have permission from the administration to stay on campus or have made prior arrangements with their teachers to make up work. 

Jefferson is a closed campus. In order to have the option of leaving campus for lunch, students must have their parents fill out a district form and submit it to Administration. At that time we will put a sticker on the student’s ID card so that they can show it to security to leave campus when the lunch bell rings.

Every quarter, new students will be tested for reading comprehension and math performance levels to be adequately placed in courses that will stretch their abilities. 

If schools are closed for the day because of weather, students will remain home. Generally, this also means that all other school activities, such as after-school clubs, sports, practices, etc. are also canceled for that day.

Parking is available in the main lot to the south of the school. Students need to park in a designated spot and not in the bus or fire lane. 

Students must obtain a pass from their teacher prior to coming to the clinic during class unless there is an emergency. All students who become ill or injured at school and may need to go home must first go to the clinic. 

School District 6 encouraged medications to be taken at home if at all possible. Many medications may be taken before and/or after school hours. If school personnel are asked to assist the student in taking medication, it must be sent to school in a properly labeled bottle. We must have written directions for giving medication signed by a physician, and written permission from a parent before the medication will be administered. Students are not to give other students any kid of drugs or medication.

Weld County School District 6 Nutrition Services Department is taking a proactive approach to offer healthier and fresher foods for the students in our community.  Our home-cooked meals are prepared fresh daily utilizing whole, natural ingredients.  Eliminating processed foods and replacing them with items made ‘from scratch’ has allowed the department to significantly reduce the amount of sodium, preservatives, and other artificial ingredients that are served to our students.  In addition, the Nutrition Services Department continues to expand its Farm to School Program by purchasing fresh produce from local growers.  This provides our students with the freshest fruits and vegetables possible, while also supporting the local community. 2024-2025 Meal Prices

Student meals will be free for the school year. Please complete the free and reduced lunch application in order to receive free meals. All students who complete the form will receive free meals. 

Free & Reduced Meal Benefits

Your student(s) may qualify to receive their breakfast and lunch meals for free or at a reduced rate.  Meal Benefit Applications are mailed to each district household approximately 30 days prior to the start of the new school year and are also available in the school office and cafeteria and online on the district’s website.  Only one application per household is necessary.  Application processing can take up to 10 business days with families responsible for all meal costs until the application is approved.  Once approved, meal benefits are in effect for the entire school year and carry over for the first thirty (30) days into the next school year.
